Bigger, bolder bows

Bows got bigger this year. Velvet, striped and two-tone bows are showing up as tree toppers and on mantels, stair rails and chair backs. It looks polished at any budget.

Sugared fruit and nostalgia

Sugared pears, berries, dried orange garlands and food-shaped glass ornaments bring back that '90s, grandmother's-house feel. Ideal Home cites Pinterest searches for "retro Christmas aesthetic" up 235%.

Heritage tartan

Tartan, plaid and checks on tree skirts, stockings and big bow toppers. Think Ralph Lauren Christmas: warm, classic and made to sit next to brass and wood.

Tinsel and kitschmas

Maximalism is back, with tinsel, colorful glass, disco balls and novelty ornaments. Etsy's Fall/Winter 2026 trend edit calls it "Merrymaxxing," and Ideal Home reports Pinterest searches for "whimsical Christmas decor" up 810%.

Black and dark-romance trees

Black trees and deep cherry-cola, burgundy and chocolate palettes. House Beautiful quotes Christmas Tree World: searches for "black Christmas tree" are up 96%.

Icy blue and frosted

Pinterest Predicts 2026 names "Cool Blue," with icy blue up 50%. For Christmas that means ice-blue glass, silver, and flocked or frosted trees.

Opera and candlelit drama

Velvet, jewel tones, chandeliers, metallics and plenty of candlelight. It suits Christmas dinner and carries over easily to New Year's Eve.

Ruffles and lace

"A table is an outfit." Etsy's Fall/Winter 2026 trend edit reports ruffle tablecloths up 841%. Vintage lace or a ruffled runner over a plain cloth is a quick, pretty upgrade for Thanksgiving.
